WW2 Guns at Longues sue Mer, Normandy Beach

Normandy Beaches

The American and British landings on the Normandy beaches on the 6th June 1944 marked the turning point in WW2 being the largest military invasion in history when 150,000 troops landed on day one on five beaches along a 50 mile stretch of the Normandy coastline.

We follow the landings, walk the beaches and visit the major sites associated with the landings. One day is spent exploring the British sector, the second day we view the American beaches. History comes alive on this tour when, walking the beaches, we still see the German beach fortifications: the German battery at Longues, (guns still in place) we see how the three gliders assigned to land at Pegasus Bridge did so inch perfect, we feel the emotions generated at Omaha beach and view the enormous cost when walking in the American cemetery at St Laurent.
