Since first moving to Ypres in Belgium four years ago, former history schoolmaster Leslie Moores has been pursuing his interest and passion in military history by offering guided battlefield tours of the World War 1 and World War 2 battle sites. In particular he has a special interest in the Australian ANZAC and Irish involvement in the First World War.
With a deep knowledge of the history surrounding the conflicts in France and Belgium, Leslie has been interviewed on Irish radio and has been written about in a major Sunday newspaper. He is also the author of three tourist guide books.
Visiting the battle sites, cemeteries and memorials around Ypres is always a moving experience and one that you will never forget. We all have a duty to remember the thousands of British, French, Belgium, Irish, German and Americans who sacrificed their lives for a cause they believed to be just.
The new Fromelle Cemetary (Pheasant Wood) was inaugurated on July 19, 2010. Our Fromelles Half-Day Tour includes the VC Corner cemetery and the Cobbers Monument, giving a unique and vivid perspective on the battle fought by Australian and British soldiers back in 1916.
Travel for the guided battlefield tours is in an 8 seated mini-bus. We are based in Ypres, Belgium, where we conduct daily battlefield tours around the Ypres Salient and one day battlefield tours to the Somme and the Vimy Ridge. Personal guided tours and historic research can be accommodated, plus guided coach tours and residential visits to Normandy or Arnhem.
